Appointments available online and in person for in home care in San Francisco
Root Mother offers deeply nourishing, trauma-informed care for the thresholds of birth, postpartum, pregnancy loss, grief, and return.
Each offering weaves practical support with folk herbalism, ritual, rest, and attentive care for the whole person.
A generous collection of handcrafted herbal care for the sacred weeks after birth
The Rootmother Postpartum Care Package is a deeply nourishing collection of handcrafted herbal preparations created to surround a new mother with warmth, tenderness, beauty, and practical care during the postpartum season.
The early weeks after birth can be profoundly tender. A mother is recovering physically, adjusting emotionally, learning the rhythms of her baby, and often giving nearly all of her attention to the needs of someone else. This package is an invitation for care to flow toward her, too.
Each preparation offers a simple ritual of tending: warm baths, mineral-rich soaks, botanical oils, grounding nourishment, abdominal warmth, and quiet moments of reconnection with the body.
This is not simply a box of products. It is a complete postpartum care experience designed to help make rest, touch, warmth, nourishment, and ritual more accessible during a time when even the smallest act of self-care can require support.
The package may be purchased by:
Expecting or newly postpartum mothers
Partners, family members, and caregivers
Friends creating a postpartum care circle
Postpartum doulas supporting private clients
Birth doulas offering continuity of care after birth
Midwives assembling postpartum resources
Birth workers seeking a meaningful client gift
Community organizations supporting new families
Each package is formulated by Amaya Rose, folk herbalist and postpartum doula, with organic ingredients that are locally sourced whenever seasonally and practically available.

Information shared about herbs, food, steaming, oils, heat, baths, wrapping, or traditional practices is educational and supportive. It is not individualized medical advice. Recommendations may be modified or withheld when a practice appears inappropriate for your stage of healing, current symptoms, medications, allergies, pregnancy status, or medical history.
You are responsible for consulting a qualified healthcare professional before using herbs or body-care practices when pregnant, nursing, taking medication, recovering from surgery or birth, living with a medical condition, or experiencing unexplained symptoms.
Important Care Disclaimer
Root Mother’s offerings are complementary to—not a replacement for—prenatal, postpartum, reproductive, emergency, or mental-health care from licensed professionals. Booking a service does not create a medical provider-patient or therapist-client relationship.
No particular physical, emotional, spiritual, reproductive, or postpartum outcome can be guaranteed. Every person responds differently to herbs, foods, touch, heat, wrapping, meditation, and ceremonial practices. Please disclose relevant allergies, sensitivities, medications, health conditions, recent procedures, pregnancy status, medical restrictions, and changes in your wellbeing before receiving care.
Pelvic steaming is offered as a traditional wellness practice and educational service, not as a treatment for fertility, infection, menstrual disorders, postpartum complications, pregnancy loss, or other medical conditions. Steaming may be postponed or declined when there is pregnancy, active bleeding, suspected infection, unexplained pelvic pain, recent surgery or procedure, incomplete healing, fever, or another concern requiring medical guidance.
Castor oil packs, abdominal heat, herbal belly wraps, baths, oils, and belly binding are also provided only when appropriate and with your consent. These practices may not be suitable for every client or every stage of postpartum recovery.
When to Seek Medical Care
This website, its booking forms, email, and text messages are not monitored for emergencies. Contact your healthcare provider promptly when something feels unusual, concerning, or beyond the support a doula can provide.
Seek immediate medical attention for urgent symptoms such as heavy bleeding, severe or worsening abdominal pain, chest pain, trouble breathing, fainting, a persistent or severe headache, changes in vision, fever of 100.4°F or higher, severe swelling, foul-smelling discharge, or thoughts of harming yourself or your baby. Urgent pregnancy-related concerns can occur during pregnancy and for up to one year after birth.
In an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
