Hi, I’m Amaya Rose, the founder of Rootmother Wellness & Apothecary.
ceremonialist, folk herbalist, grief tender and postpartum doula
I tend the thresholds we were never meant to cross alone.
My work lives at the meeting place of folk herbalism, ceremony, grief tending, plant medicine integration, postpartum care, creative practice and community-rooted healing.
I accompany people through the passages that change us: birth and postpartum, death and grief, reproductive loss, identity transformation, spiritual awakening, survival, softening and the slow work of returning to one’s own life.
I am especially devoted to creating spaces where women, queer people, caregivers, artists, survivors, mothers, leaders and those who have spent years holding everything together can finally be held.
My Path
Rootmother grew from almost a decade of herbal and apothecary work, community care, disaster response, ritual practice and deep listening.
Before Rootmother, in 2017 I founded Akasha Apothecary, created herbal products focused on women’s health and postpartum care. I served community through Renegade Community Apothecary ( est. 2020 ) and helped cultivate care for Black mothers and families through Ancestral Wellspring Collective ( est 2025 ).
Across every form the work has taken, the devotion has remained the same:
To make beauty, ritual, nourishment and meaningful care available at the moments we need them most.
My Approach
I do not believe healing requires becoming perfectly regulated, endlessly productive, spiritually polished or free of contradiction.
I believe we are complex, cyclical and relational beings.
Our grief may need witness.
Our bodies may need rest.
Our transitions may need ritual.
Our stories may need somewhere safe to land.
Our healing may ask to happen slowly.
My role is not to position myself as the authority over your life. My role is to create an attuned container, offer practices and resources from my training and experience and support you in listening more deeply to yourself.
